Some guys want security and McCann gets security. He could get seriously hurt and have his career prematurely end. He'll be young enough to still make big bucks at the end of this deal if he wants. I have to admit this is the only thing I've seen from the Braves that has excited me. It's good to see the new owners agree to this, even if this deal does make good sense for the Braves. I doubt AOL/TW would have allowed it. While I would like to see Smoltz return, I have felt for a while that he is one arm injury away from his career being over and we have to be realistic and say that he probably doesn't have that much time left. He's had serious injuries that both Maddux and Glavine escaped and I just have the feeling that Smoltz will see his career end because of injury. If Smoltz goes elsewhere in 2008, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it ends up being his last season. I'd much rather see Andruw return as he still has plenty of seasons left in him.
