Thanks for bringing the high cheese on the Bissinger/Costas affair. I feel like a lot of high-profile bloggers, while being critical of both Bissinger and Costas, have been too subdued in their commentary, perhaps out of fear that they’d be accused of the very things Bissinger/Costas were railing against.

Your blunt, uncompromising assessment is refreshing.

Moore and O’Reilly are—and very much know they are—entertainers, not reporters. They may bring something to our attention that we hadn’t seen before, but we don’t (or at least shouldn’t) go to them for primary information.

Bissinger, otoh, is supposed to be a reporter, someone who finds and tells us about NEWS.

Tarring the two entertainers by comparing them to him is an insult to them.

Your blog is one of my favorites and I check it almost every day. Your effort is greatly appreciated by many. We all realize that you have a full time job as a professor and a full time job as a husband/father, and understand if you are too busy many days to post anything. However, when you do, it is read and enjoyed by many. Keep up the great work!

JC, I’d prefer if you only posted when you had something to say. I’ve got you on my RSS, and it’s always great to see a post from you pop up. Please keep it running, even if it means only a post a day, a post a week, a post a month, or once a year.

Rather than force yourself into it, just keep it up when you’ve got something great!

(Oh yeah, and um, put out another book)
