Amen! The message boards will be rife with this garbage within the coming weeks. Now, as an alternative to preaching in my own terms, I can simply post a link to this entry:)

That last is, of course, only true if a player is consistent over the year. A perennial "slow starter" is worth acquiring at midseason, since someone else has paid for his April.

Guys, I hear the Braves are talking about trading Brandon Jones and Matt Diaz for C.C. Sabathia. Makes sense if you ask me. The Braves only brought up Jones to showcase him to other teams, and Diaz can't hit anymore anyways. Plus, we can afford Sabathia salary now that the season's almost half over. If the Indians ask for more, we can always throw in Chris Resop and Corky Miller. Who needs them anyways?

Good post.

I've seen Braves fans say things like "I've had it with Francoeur! Trade him for Tim Lincecum!"

I've also seen suggestions that the Braves called up Brandon Jones to "showcase" him. If Jones is good enough to be a legit major league outfielder, wouldn't the Braves want to keep him instead of going with Greg Norton in left?
