What A Waste

NY Times:

Major League Baseball, which had long been skeptical about a viable test for human growth hormone, now plans to implement blood testing for the substance in the minor leagues later this year, according to an official in baseball with direct knowledge of the matter.

Money down the toilet

This is a PR move.

Here is my solution, which I think will get growth hormone out of baseball and discourage people from using the drug by sending a credible signal that it doesn’t work: legalize it!.

Since when did the “you can do it if you want, go ahead and be an idiot” admonishment ever stop anyone?

I agree somewhat with your reasoning, but it’s difficult to understand how removing a barrier to doing some activity will decrease its use.

But, Greg, if the point of drug testing is to prevent people from using PEDs and punishing them if they do, how does punishing people for using a NPED (non-performance-enhancing-drug) accomplish anything? And if using HGH neither helps nor damages anyone, why should I try to stop them from wasting their time and money?

Who cares if they use it or not?
